I am proud to announce that I have been accepted into USC’s Masters of Teaching online program! Classes start first week of January 2014. I should have my degree and teaching certificate in Science by March 2015.

Speaking of online learning: it is the sole method I currently use to teach since I have had to relocate twice in the past 2 years.

I look forward to interacting with USC’s online system of teaching, as the online experience should add to my own virtual teaching repertoire.

They use the Adobe Connect platform, and from what I have experienced so far, it looks quite promising as a method to interact with everyone from afar. Classes are synchronous, with weekly scheduled meetings. Everyone in the meeting has to have a live webcam and audio feed. In a way, it seems even more personal than going to a class, as everyone must look at each other face-to-face, which rarely ever happens when going to a live class.

Overall, I think I will get to know my classmates better than I did at Caltech in a live meeting class.

I look forward to applying all I will learn to my current teaching styles, and taking the next step toward opening my own customized private school. (My other secret desire is to get a PhD in Education, and live out the rest of my life as a professor at a University.)
